Everyone’s pelvic floor matters. This muscle group impacts breathing, movement, posture, pleasure, core stability, bodily functions and so much more. 

In this shorter intro class, you will learn anatomy and function of the pelvic floor as it relates to everyday living. Including movement and breathing skills to enhance your understanding of this part of your body. 
  
Your pelvic floor deserves to be understood and given attention, just like other parts of your body.  I'm so glad you're taking this class. 

The pelvic floor and pelvis can also be a vulnerable part of the body to focus on. Emerge with Amy LePage is a trauma-informed practice. If a workshop setting doesn't feel like the right space for you to learn more, reach out to schedule an individual session.

Movement Is Hydration for the tissues and joints of your body.   Come explore gentle, fluid movement sequences and open up to the wonder and awe of the moving landscape of your body. With a sprinkling of brain-based neuromuscular education, leave class with a deeper, richer connection to you and a more supple, freer experience of moving through daily life. This class is suitable for people living with long Covid, fibromyalgia and other conditions that may find yoga and other exercise classes too much. This non-forcing, non-pushing class is also a great addition for those with very active yoga and exercise practices. 

This class is a blend of Hanna Somatics (which has a root in Feldenkrais), intuitive movement, therapeutic yoga and other body- awareness practices.

Ease in Motion Drop In - Virtual Option

Sleep evades many people for so many different reasons. In this class you will learn some basics of sleep hygiene, non-sleep deep rest tips, how to build movement moments and pauses into your day to shift out of the "go, go, go" pace of life and enjoy a gentle movement practice to unwind from your day and prepare for a restful night's sleep. You will also receive an audio recording for you to follow along with once you settle into bed.

Prenatal Movement/Yoga - VIRTUAL - Wednesdays 5:30 - 6:30pm

Wanting your support person(s) or partner(s) to feel more involved during pregnancy? This1.5 hour private session offers you movement and calm breathing practices that not only gives you time to connect and prepare together, but also will help you both feel more relaxed. Help those aches, pains and stiffness melt away.

You will also learn the practice of Giving and Receiving: creating time to offer hands-on movement and support to one another during pregnancy and beyond. 

* Know a few other people who would like to do this too? We can create a small, group class with a lower cost.

Prenatal Movement w/ Support Person - Private 90 min.

Balancing the body during pregnancy helps to release tension, stress and anxiety, creating more space and ease for you and baby. When one's body is in greater balance, the process of birth can be more efficient and the strategies for coping during labor can be more effective.  

During these sessions, you will be on a massage table receiving skilled, hands-on care that helps replenish and nurture you in the moment while also offering lasting impacts that prepare you for your birth and baby. 

Sessions will have a different focus based on your needs, from relaxation, to addressing specific places of pain or discomfort in the body, to holding space for all the thoughts and emotions that may be accompanying this pregnancy. 

Prenatal Somatic Sessions are excellent to receive once a month during your pregnancy as they help you become more present in your body. 

Near the end of pregnancy, sessions can be extremely helpful for gaining more comfort and focusing specifically on balancing your body before birth. 

If you find your birthing path includes an induction or external cephalic version (ECV), a bodywork session can help immensely with any anxiety (which creates muscular tension) that may be present as you anticipate an upcoming  procedure or birth. 

If you find your birthing path includes a planned cesarean-birth, schedule a Cesarean Birth Preparation Session.

Amy combines somatic bodywork with her trainings in Treating the Pregnant Body with Lynn Shulty of The Institute for Birth Healing and is also a Spinning Babies Aware® Practitioner.

Prenatal Somatic Bodywork Private Session - 90 min.

What makes the private session different from the pre-recorded videos or live workshop? You receive  my undivided focus and attention on how this information relates specifically to your. 

The more you understand about your pelvic floor muscles the more empowered and ready you will be for labor and birth, especially pushing. Learn how pregnancy, the physiologic experiences of labor, pain/fear cycles, habituated movement and muscle tension impacts the pelvic floor. Gain confidence in how to physically, mentally and emotionally meet the pushing phase of your labor.

Preparing Your Pelvic Floor for Birth - Private Session

Whether you have been planning a cesarean birth or have recently learned your birth plan needs to shift - preparing physically, mentally and emotionally is a deeply helpful part of the journey. As is understanding the process, for you and your support person(s).

These sessions are tailored to you and also include:
- Understand the cesarean birth process & questions to ask your care provider.
- If you are having twins - understanding the process with twins.
- learn movements to help your body prepare for the position you will be in while receiving an epidural. 
(This is important because back muscles can be quite tight from the typical pregnancy posture, which is the opposite position needed for the epidural). 
- Learn family-centered cesarean birth procedures that may be possible & how to advocate for them.
- Receive hands-on, gentle support to release tension in the body & calm the nervous system & how to utilize these before, during and after your birth.
- Practice gentle breathing techniques for helping your incision heal (that also are important for your pelvic floor and calming the nervous system).
- Learn immediate ways to help support your movements/ transitions from one position to another, in holding and caring for baby, help with voiding/ eliminating during the first few days.
- Learn ways to physically, mentally and emotionally be with your birth and healing scar tissue & when and how to being Scar Tissue Mobilization.

Preparing for Cesarean Birth - Private Session

A two-part class, meeting for 3 hr. 15 minutes both days, for a total of 6.5 hours of education.  Ideal for home, birthing center, and hospital births.   Private sessions are also available (email for private session: info@emergewithamylepage.com)

In this 2-hour workshop focuses on the amazing (and often elusive) pelvic floor muscles. While the other childbirth education classes are meant for your support person(s) to join, this workshop is meant for just the pregnant person.

Preparing the Pelvic Floor for Birth - 2 hr. workshop

Birth is an active process. You and your baby are part of it. 

From the name of this class you may think it’s about spinning the actual baby. We won’t be spinning any babies during out time together - but we will be helping you release tension to create more space so baby may find a position inside that helps to facilitate a smoother birth.

Join this interactive and practice-focused class to learn about:

- the three levels of the pelvis and how your baby passes through

- positions that help to open each of the pelvic levels (thus making space for baby!)

- the Daily Essential Activities and how to modify them based on your needs

- how to do The Three Balances® during pregnancy for comfort and relaxation and when to use these during labor and birth

- how to be an amazing birth support person

- other Spinning Babies® techniques

- the way that our daily habits may get in the way of creating space for baby

Taking this class during your second trimester is ideal - so you have time for your body to adjust to what you are learning. The purpose of this class is for you to take the information home with you and practice during pregnancy to prepare for birth. Then, you can use these strategies during birth as well. 

This is offered as a small group class (3 - 5 families max) to offer more individualized attention and support.

This 3 hour long private session covers the same material as the small group class, with more focus on you.

A private session creating a unique blending of information from the Empowered Childbirth and Moving Breathing Birth classes.

If you choose one 2.5 hour time slot, you will receive condensed information from the Empowered Childbirth curriculum.

The focus for this offering is for you to receive some much needed body, mind and soul care while having space and time to nourish yourself through movement & rest. Designated time to practice movement moments either during pregnancy or any stage postpartum.

How it works:
Each person receives 15 minutes of bodywork to help relieve those achy, tired, “would love some attention” parts. 
When it's not your turn to receive bodywork from Amy, you will either receive Reiki from Jesse OR explore movement & restorative postures on your own using all the props available (birth ball, foam roller, tennis balls, bolsters etc). Stretch, Relax, Meditate, Strengthen...

Amy will guide a short Movement Sequence at the beginning and end. Restorative Postures will be displayed so you can move in and out of them as you'd like. 

This workshop is just for adults. If you'd like to bring your baby, join Amy on Tuesdays from 9:15 - 10:30 for Bodywork with Baby. On March 12th, Jesse will be there offering Reiki too!

We are hardly ever educated about these muscles and usually don’t seek advice or help unless there’s a problem. 
And because we are all unique - each session is tailored to the individual. 

You will learn anatomy and function of the pelvic floor as it relates to every day living and the rest of your body. 
Then, you will learn simple exercises that increase awareness and introduce supple coordination of these  muscles.

Nervous System Regulation Coaching - 90 min. Private Session

This is an Inside, Out and Less is More approach to feeling centered, connected, and coordinated throughout your entire body. Go beyond “abs” and  “core exercises” that focus on reps and forcing.  Discover the innate power of subtlety, fluidity, suppleness and softness as a powerful key to core awareness and living from a grounded and rooted place. This 60 minute session is a great introduction to somatic skills or opportunity to refresh your skillset.

Somatic Skills Coaching - 60 minutes

Sleep evades many people for so many different reasons. In this private session you will receive a mix of deep rest, gentle movement & mindfulness strategies as well as mindset shift ideas to help you create a sleep habit routine unique to you. 

In this session you will also receive some hands-on bodywork - as the nervous system responds to gentle and supportive touch. When the brain receives the message that it is safe to release tension and relax, this helps the body shift from alert mode (fight, flight, freeze) into calm, rest, restore.

Learning how to down regulate your nervous system is a bridge needed to go from being awake to asleep. These strategies can be explored throughout the day - so your body and brain have time to practice releasing tension and stress on a regular basis - which in turn makes doing this before sleep a more understood and easeful process. These strategies will also help if you wake and typically can't fall back asleep.

Somatic Sleep Session - 90 Minute

Co-Regulating with Baby

In this private session, learn fun, simple ways to connect with baby through movement, eye contact, facial expression, sound etc.  Understand how you are all co-regulating with each other and how to bring nervous system awareness into parenting.

You'll also receive practical ways to tend to yourself while caring for baby, including those challenging and stressful moments. 

Every family configuration is welcome - and all those who care for you baby as well.

Come with baby (Ok to be a crawler and walker) to stretch, relax, rest, connect with others, feed baby, change baby and just simply be in a safe, comfy and welcoming space. AND receive some "just-for-you" hands-on bodywork to de-stress and relieve those sore shoulders, necks, backs, hips etc.

Receive 15 minutes of hands-on bodywork while your little one is hanging out with other parents/caregivers (in the same room). Or, your little one can be with you while you receive. When not receiving, spend the remainder of the time doing what feels best to you.

Time to connect with yourself and others.

Everyone’s pelvic floor matters, especially when you've been pregnant and experienced vaginal or cesarean birth. 

Whether you have a lot going on with your pelvic floor or you are just curious and want to learn more, this workshop is for you.

Postpartum Pelvic Floor & Core Connection Workshop

Postnatal Somatic Bodywork Sessions focus on tending to you after crossing the threshold of labor, birth and caring for baby.  

Sessions are tailored to the individual and how far along postpartum they are. Early postpartum care is provided (in the first few weeks) and home visits may be possible depending upon location and with additional travel fee. ***if interested in a home session, please email instead of scheduling here: info@emergewithamylepage.com

Sessions encourage relaxation, rest, and reducing tension or pain symptoms, including pelvic pain. There is also the opportunity to bring in pelvic floor and core awareness, in addition to tips for helping yourself manage all the awkward body positions you may find yourself in - which lead to muscle strain (think shoulders, neck, back....). Space is offered for the processing of your birth experience as well. 

Come on your own. Come with baby. Bring someone with you to be with baby while you receive. This is a welcoming space for whatever configuration you need to feel comfortable receiving.

Postnatal Somatic Bodywork Session

Did you know that in many European countries, postpartum pelvic floor care is a standard of practice?  Let's make it part of your postpartum experience too. 

Whether you had a vaginal birth or a cesarean birth, your pelvic floor matters! Understanding this SUPER important group of muscles (that impacts SOOO much) makes such a difference.   

Consider booking 6 weeks out after your due time - so you have a session already scheduled. (Once your baby arrives, you may not have the bandwidth to think to schedule this). As your appointment is coming closer, you will receive a check in email from Emerge with Amy LePage, and it's easy to adjust the date based on your needs. 

If you pre-book, before your birth, you will receive an email with a short list of simple things you can do immediately after birth to help your pelvic floor muscles receive the tending and care they deserve. 

Each session is tailored to your unique needs. Sessions are fully clothed and a mix of education and hands on support as well as verbal guided breath and gentle movement exercises. All hands on touch is external.

You're juggling a lot right now. If you've birthed your baby, you're also healing. You've probably heard how important it is to take care of yourself after birth or adjusting to having a new baby at home. You may be wondering "how the heck do I take care of myself right now?" 

This relaxed class setting is full of simple ideas for tending to you while you take care of your little one. You'll learn ways to connect with your baby, move your body for yourself, and connect with others who are on a similar path of parenting newborns. This is a zero judgement zone - completely welcoming to all and laughter, crying, feeding, diaper changing, sleeping etc.

Move & Breathe w/ Baby Fridays 10:30 - 11:30am

Coping with Grief and Loss During Pregnancy & Birth is part of the journey for some pregnant people and families. Emerge offers somatic coaching sessions as one way of being with the grief of loss in all its varying forms. Some session may include hands-on healing, therapeutic touch, if this feels right to you. 

The first sessions is offered on a "by donation" basis. The amount listed is a suggestion, you donate what feels doable for you at this time.

Additional sessions can be set of 60 minutes or 90 minutes. Regular rates (and sliding scale options) apply.

Grief & Loss During Pregnancy or Birth Somatic Session

Calling on the work of Amy Wright-Glenn of the Birth, Breath and Death Institute, as well as somatic skillsets, these sessions offer compassionate, mindful presence and a witness holding space for you. 

As you share what you feel moved to share, mindful breathing, deep listening, reflective sharing, tuning into body sensation, and offerings of movement and / or meditation are brought into the 50-minute session. 

*Holding Space Consultations are distinctly different from traditional mental health counseling.
* They are also different from the somatic bodywork 
* A scope of practice will be sent before your session so you know exactly what to expect.
